Parenting with P.E.A.C.E.
A relationship-based guide to understanding & responding to your child with sensory processing challenges
4 self-paced modules with multiple lessons within each module. The course includes video, audio, and text (to accommodate all learning types and parent lifestyles) along with corresponding worksheets & reflection questions. Bonus materials include sensory strategies & when to use them, mindfulness strategies, a body scan meditation for parents, feeding strategies, and a "Dear Friends and Family" section to help you explain things to your loved ones!
The course uses evidence and clinical experience to provide a full, in-depth understanding of sensory processing and how it can affect engagement and relationship. You will be empowered to identify why your child might be struggling, why YOU might be struggling, and how to embrace those struggles so that you can move forward together.
The course is self-paced, and you will have lifetime access to the content. There is over 2 hours of video, with corresponding worksheets. The information is also provided in script and downloadable audio format, to make it more accessible to more parent lifestyles and learning types. Listen on the go, or read during late night feeding sessions! The reflection portions of the course can be as in-depth as you’d like, but the more time you put into the reflection portions, the more you will get out of them.
The course is designed for parents of children with sensory processing challenges. This may or may not include a diagnosis of autism.
This course focuses on embracing the parent-child relationship within the sensory processing lens. While the first module dives deep into sensory systems and patterns of sensory dysfunction, any child would absolutely benefit from this sensory-based approach, even without an official “identification” of Sensory Processing Disorder or other sensory challenges.
A relationship-based approach is one that focuses on the relationship rather than the goal. As a therapist, this means my purpose in a therapy session is to build connection and engagement first, and use that as the main therapeutic tool for change. For parents, this means focusing on the connection with your child, rather than focusing on “avoiding” meltdowns or “fixing” challenges. Through a deeper co-regulatory experience, both you and your child will grow and flourish.
Yes! The course focuses heavily on the power of co-regulatory experience. This means that the parent truly is the ultimate regulation strategy for the child. Other sensory strategies are extremely helpful and necessary, but the parent must be regulated in order for the sensory strategies to be most effective.
No. This course is specifically designed to empower parents to identify the WHY behind a child’s struggles and recognize how to use themselves as a tool to support the child. While it will give you tools to reduce frequency, intensity, and duration of meltdowns, this is not a “quick fix” to avoid meltdowns. It is an approach that relies deeply on relationship and regulation. We cannot make meltdowns go away, but we can embrace the skills to manage them and reduce the overall stress associated with them.
The price is $117 USD. While I feel it is under-priced based on the in-depth content of the course, it is most important to me that the information is accessible to families.
